The days when anyone could pretend that smoking was not harmful to the body are long gone, but the struggle of many smokers is very present and real. There are many stop smoking programs to choose from and this may be confusing to those struggling to quit. No one program will work for everyone.The methods employed by stop smoking programs include hypnosis. The strategy of using hypnosis to quit smoking can be advantageous for the person who wants to quit. There are no drugs or substitutes for tobacco involved, and the treatments can be effective. Many medical professional deem hypnosis an appropriate tool in the fight to quit smoking. There are drawbacks, however, including that multiple sessions may be required and some people cannot be induced into a hypnotic state.Medications can also be used to block the urge to smoke. These require a doctor’s prescription and supervision and can be rather expensive. Like all medications, anti-smoking drugs do have side effects and can be contraindicated in some conditions. Of course, the risks of continuing to smoke may be worse than any side effects.Some people like to utilize an herbal remedy to stop smoking. There are a few herbs and combinations that are used to help in this respect. You may need to try several different combinations before finding the one that is right for you. The herb lobelia seems to copy the effect of nicotine and is helpful in converting from smoking to non-smoking.There are some stop smoking programs that incorporate some type of acupuncture. Usually this treatment involves very small needles that are painless. These needs are strategically placed to motivate the body’s energy channels and help conquer the desire to smoke. A surgical staple in the ear is another technique that is sometimes used. The staple stays in the ear until the patient has quit smoking.Stop smoking programs, no matter what their methodology, must provide individual counseling and group support. Programs must realize that smoking is both a physical and a psychological addiction. Some programs consist of quitting cigarettes cold turkey and then relying solely upon counseling to overcome psychological addiction. You can’t overcome a smoking addiction without being counseled in some form.The health hazards of smoking are no secret, but smokers still find it quite difficult to quit. The vast array of stop smoking programs available can complicate matters, making it difficult to decide which program will work best for each individual smoker. Each smoker requires a program that best suits his or her individual needs. Some use hypnosis to stop smoking, some people choose to use an herbal remedy to stop smoking. Hypnosis will certainly be effective for those who truly want to quit smoking, but the absolute KEY is that you have to really want it for real. You can’t just think you want to quit, or hope that you want to quit. You have to want it so badly it hurts. If you don’t truly want it, hypnosis (or anything else) won’t work.
If you DO really want it, hypnosis is probably the best solution in my opinion.
Find ways to want it … then quit. Make it real inside of you.
