Too much caffeine can cause complications in the nervous system, which can lead to panic attacks. Research has shown that caffeine-induced sleeplessness can make you more susceptible to panic attacks. The best thing to do is avoid or regulate your intake of coffee and soda.
The psychological effects of a panic attack is often closely related to the physical symptoms. You will normally feel light-headed, and you will experience chest pains and shortness of breath. Because of this, the intensity of a panic attack can usually be lessened with breathing exercises. If you practice breathing exercises during a panic attack, such as deep breathing, you can calm your body, and in turn, your mind.
Breathing exercises are not the only method of relaxation. You can practice yoga, meditation, and many other methods to calm yourself. Many therapists include these methods in their treatments. Better relaxation will bring a lessened likelihood of panic attacks.
