Snoring, a Common Problem

5

Snoring is usually a bigger problem for the people who have to sleep with forty five percent of the population who snore. Snoring can be a serious problem which makes it very important to see how sleep patterns are affected.    People who wake up in the morning and do not feel rested, have headaches, fall asleep at inappropriate times, have memory difficulties and low energy may have a more serious problem.  They should consult a doctor about it because they may be suffering from sleep apnea, which means they stop breathing multiple times during the night. This can be fatal if left untreated.  Don’t despair, you can find relief from snoring.

Treatments

Individuals who suffer from snoring have many different treatments available to them.  Snoring is caused by different things such as blocked nasal passages, deviated septum, the base of the tongue falling back into the throat, or enlarged tonsils or uvula.  The sound of snoring is caused by the vibrating palate and throat tissues.

Certain lifestyle changes can help many people with their snoring problems.Snoring can be caused by smoking, being overweight and drinking alcohol. Some simple solutions include limiting caffeine, avoid snacks before bedtime and not eating dairy products soon before going to bed.

Sometimes snoring can be controlled simply by sleeping with the mouth closed and by sleeping on the side instead of on the back. In order for people to do both of these things, several different devices can be used. A chin strap is a device that is used to help keep a snorer’s mouth shut while they sleep until it becomes a habit. Certain kinds of mattresses and pillows are available to help a person train himself to sleep on his side rather than on his back; they make back sleeping uncomfortable.  There are also other ways to treat snoring.

Medications such as throat sprays are used to lubricate the throat. Allergy medicine can also be used because it reduces swelling in the nasal passages.

There are several different reasons for snoring and just as many options to help a person stop snoring.  It’s well worth the effort to try.

I don’t snore but my father does, very loudly. Me and my mom are really concerned about it. My room is across theirs and I can hear his snore minutes from the time he sleeps until morning.

I was affected with this condition in 2009 and would like to write about a method which really stoped my snoring. Train your voice to tone your throat muscles. Even my health care professional advised this technique to me. Enjoy.
