What causes female hairloss?

If you loose your hair as a man it is a worrying experience, but for a women, it is far harder to come to terms with the situation. It is expected that a man will loose hair over his lifetime, and it is not unusual to see bald men. It can attract the wrong sort of attention, and is a different experience for a women who suffer from thinning hair or baldness. This particular attention brings with it social consequences, and makes life very uncomfortable for the women concerned.

The arrival of female hairloss can be an uncontrollable event striking at any time in a person’s life. You are not going to be happy with the situation if you are male, as mentioned earlier, but you will probably accept it. This is especially true if there is genetic evidence within the family indicating the presence of baldness. but hairloss in a woman can be a devastating experience, and mark a complete change in her lifestyle. I have listed below some reasons why hairloss can strike a woman:

1. Stress

This is much more common than most people would think, and can trigger a thinning of the hair and in some cases a total loss of hair known as Alopecia Totalis. Obviously this can also apply to male hairloss, as everyone suffers from stress at some point in their lives. Cases of stress-related hairloss can be successfully treated – look at what is causing the problem and tackle it at the root (Pun intended).

2. Hormonal Imbalance

Some women suffer from hormonal imbalances, including male pattern baldness which is the presence of too much male hormone in the body. Women can also suffer from a hairloss condition called estrogenic baldness, which is the result of a female hormone deficiency. This is also known as female pattern baldness.

Why do women suffer hairloss from these types of hormonal imbalances? The main problem areas are orally taken contraceptives such as the Pill, the menopause and the post-natal stage of pregnancy.

3. Pregnancy

It is not unnatural having given birth, to experience some degree of female hairloss. This is caused by higher than normal levels of estrogen which develops during the pregnancy term. This is a temporary hairloss condition, and is a direct result of a readjustment of estrogen to the correct levels experienced before pregnancy.
