There are several types of mole remove procedures, and they can normally be classified into surgical, laser and homemade. Excision represents the surgical mole remove method; a procedure that consists in the cutting of a mole and possibly the area surrounding it, so that there is no chance of the skin tag to regrow. Depending on how deep the mole goes, stitches may be necessary. Doctors cannot usually tell how much tissue they will have to cut, because most of the medical tests identify the size of the nevi, but not their depth. Scarring usually occurs in the case of deeper wounds that require stitches.

If the surgical mole remove is superficial, no stitches are used, and the doctor will cauterize the wound in order to stop the bleeding and speed up the healing. In this group of interventions, we have to refer to the one known as shaving, which simply removes the mole from the surface of the skin. There is no pain or tissue trauma involved in this process, but some mole cells could be left behind after the intervention. Therefore, no matter how easy the procedure and how smooth the skin is left behind, the pros and cons have to be weighed carefully in order to make a good decision.

The more modern alternative for mole remove is laser therapy, that is much praised because of its little invasiveness. While flat moles can be easily removed by laser, not the same thing can be said about raised ones. The trouble here is the difficulty of the laser to get inside the deeper layers of the mole, particularly if there is a larger root. Thus, your dermatologist could either advise the use of several treatment sessions, or recommend another form of treatment, like surgery for instance. Therefore, according to some specialists, the efficiency of laser therapy is not completely proved.

Finally, in case you decide to go for a natural way of mole remove, there are several remedies available in the household. Castor oil, fig stems extract, honey, vinegar, cauliflower or pineapple juice represent treatments that have been part of traditional home medicine for hundreds of years. However, tradition doesn’t make the procedures safe, because the attempts of removing moles at home have often resulted in a deterioration of the health condition and even the appearance of cancer. In malignant moles, herbal remedies can trigger a very serious reaction that will not prove positive at all. Consequently, the medical approach also remains the safest and most serious one.

There is a marked difference between plastic surgery and cosmetic surgery according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.  The difference lies in the fact that  plastic surgery, also known as reconstructive surgery, typically allows for repairing defective body structures. These abnormalities may have been caused by birth defects, trauma, injuries and even tumors, such as breast and skin cancer. Cosmetic surgery on the other hand is performed to improve appearance and boost self confidence by rejuvenating or remolding normal body parts.

You might be surprised to learn that many men are now choosing this type of elective surgery. Amongst the more popular operations for men is neck liposuction surgery, which gets rid of areas of fat around the neck and sculptures the area for a better appearance. Quite often, this is combined with a face lift or other form of facial procedure, such as chin liposuction. When asked for the reasons they want the surgery in the first place, many say it is for work related reasons and see it as investing in them selves.

It would seem that, as a society, we have become preoccupied with youthfulness and beauty and it is a near necessity that we do everything feasible to better our appearance. Several studies indicate that everybody has their own ideas and personality and if you are happy with yourself, then you will likely project that feeling through each part of your life. On the other hand, those who are disatisfied with how they look are inclined to be more introspective and self-conscious. With that in mind, do you consider that plastic surgery is right for you or do you feel there might be other choices.

As is the case with any specialized or general surgery, you will need time to recuperate after the operation. That time varies from one person to the next and for the most part relies upon the form of procedure performed. In addition to allowing time for physical recuperation, there are also different emotional issues to consider. Many doctors say that the psychological effects of plastic surgery together with the emotional recovery is typically something the patient has not counted on and as such, they try to make a point to discuss this matter before all surgeries.

Of course, there are umpteen reasons why someone may choose to have plastic surgery. Nevertheless, there are things to take into account and bear in mind before having a procedure. Surgeons can only work with what is there, meaning that they are unable to mold someones looks as if they were made of clay. There are certain considerations, such as a persons overall health, their age and skin texture. Doctors tell us another important consideration is the persons state of mind prior to the surgery. If they assume this is going to somehow make them stunning and fix all of their issues, then they are very likely not a good candidate for this type of procedure.

Michael Jackson is apparently planning to revamp his image with even more cosmetic surgery in preparation for his big comeback this summer. The popstar, who is due to start a run of 50 dates at London’s O2 Arena in July, has apparently been in consultation with a number of top surgeons and cosmetologists to work out his latest new look.

It’s not as if Michael Jackson hasn’t had enough surgery already, but it’s not really surprising to hear that he’s planning to go under the knife again. After all it’s one of the things he’s become most famous for. It would seem, though, that for the time being at least he will be in the minority. The worrying trend towards a nip/tuck culture where people can just pop in for a nose job or breast enlargement and no one thinks anything of it, appears to be coming to an end.

It could just be the recession meaning people don’t have the money to spare for expensive procedures, or it could be that people are starting to listen to the ever increasing list of horror stories and disastrous experiences related to cosmetic surgery. Whatever the cause, the fact remains that the number of people who went under the knife in the final three months of 2008 had dropped by at least 25 per cent.

This might be bad news for cosmetic surgeons but it’s surely great news for the rest of the beauty industry. Without the option to just get your body issues ‘fixed’ by going under the knife, people who want to retain their youthful looks are having to look elsewhere for an answer. And the only other answer is to always take proper care of yourself, your body and your skin.

Specialist cosmetic companies like NV Perricone and Elemis produce a huge selection of creams and moisturisers specifically designed to target problem areas and deal with common problems. These ‘cosmeceuticals’ combine cosmetic benefits with pharmaceutical ones. If you prefer something a bit more home-grown Aesop use botanical ingredients in their huge range of skincare products. Taking care of your skin properly and maintaining a healthy diet and exercise routine means that you can always look your best, without running the risk of ending up looking like Jacko.
