improve your memory

“Do memory games really help to improve your memory?” That is a good question to ask. Of course they can! You might not even remember it, but even in our formative years, we had already been exposed to memory games to help our minds develop. Even babies play it too! Little did we know that simple memory games could help you to improve your memory, miraculously! Who says that memory games are reserved only for the kiddies? Believe it or not, memory games work for everyone. If you realize that your memory is deteriorating fast, then this sure calls for some emergency help. You definitely would not want to have a memory capacity of a 70 year old when you are only 30 would you?

You might have heard your people saying to you “Why not do something more productive?” when you play these memory games. These people definitely do not understand the entire purpose of memory games.

Mind puzzles games are excellent for your mind. Simply by attempting such puzzle games, you are in actuality stimulating your brain and firing up your synapses to keep them from rusting up, so to speak. At the same time, some memory games will require you to retrieve information from the past and recall them. These kinds of games are definitely handy for kids who are suffering from Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). These puzzles will allow them to concentrate for a longer period of time and hence making them learn how to overcome the disorder.

For adults, they should turn to puzzle games instead. These puzzles usually come in different stages whereby it just gets increasingly harder as you reach the peak. It is definitely something fun to do and at the same time, it allows you to develop analytical and strategic skills, depending on the puzzle’s level of difficulty of course. You might not have the obvious effect of a larger brain when you continuously play puzzles and mind games. But you can definitely feel the difference when you are able to solve the puzzle in 1 minute flat.

Try playing some of the more popular mind games – Boggle, Pick-up-sticks, or even computer or console games like Medal of Honor whereby a lot of thinking and strategizing is needed.

While some of these games might seem a little irrelevant or “too easy” for you, they will still help to give you necessary amount of power to boost your memory.

Of course, do remember that this does not mean that you have to sit down the entire day playing endless mind games and puzzles. Remember to include a good dose of rest and some exercises too. When the mind gets too tired, it will just slow down the entire process of thinking and remembering. As such, you should always include several different kinds of activities, along with these mind-boggling puzzles. Do something relaxing that you enjoy, like yoga or jogging. These exercises will not only help refresh the mind but also ensures a better circulation in the body. Keep in mind that a healthy mind starts with a healthy body.

It is entirely possible for you to have an active and alert mind of a 25 year old, even when you’re 65. All it takes is playing memory games to stimulate your mind and achieve amazing mind power!

memory games

There are many ways by which we can improve our memory; however it has never been classified into short or long-term for most of the time. Whatever the case, there is little difference between the two as long as we get to retain as much of our precious memories in any way shape or form. By improving our general memory, indirectly both our short and long term memories would improve as well. Without further ado, here are some ways you can improve your memory or your short term memory.

Food

Fruits and vegetables with high sugar content are great for memory improvement as they provide the glucose needed by our brain to function. With a high intake of such fruits and vegetables, we inevitably would raise the glucose level in our body that would mean our brain would have sufficient glucose to function on and it improves our brain power. Other foods such as fish oil and soy are also very good for improving our memory. Fish oil consists of the omega-3 fats that enhances our memory and also gives us mental clarity.

Mental stimulation

If you want to have an active mind that is capable of superior memory retention, then the importance of mental stimulation can never be stressed enough. Out of all the nutrition and vitamins a person can consume, the method that will bring the most results for improved memory would be mental stimulation. You can stimulate your mind with memory games, math drills or simple tasks like reading a book! Even outwardly simple games such as mahjong and bridge all require large amounts of thinking and strategizing that stimulates the brain. In fact, by playing such games to improve memory, people realize connections between the notions that must be recalled in the future.

Vitamins
B vitamins have been proven to show great improvement to our memory after we consume them; though they do not help us in the improvement of our moods. Also, studies have shown that a person’s emotional and volitional states can change over time if they undergo folate treatment, with vitamin B12 and B6 followed up with it. In addition, people who are prescribed with vitamins have seen a significant improvement in their information processing.

Of course there are many other ways to improve our memory not just through these methods. However we must make sure that when we have the slightest suspicion of experiencing symptoms of amnesia or dementia, we should start to take actions to improve our memory, or it would continue to spiral out of control and the precious memories we have kept for so many years would be gone without us even realizing.
